About Costa de la Luz and Nuevo Portil
(Click on small images to zoom in)
Nuevo Portil is an impressive and exciting new development that combines the perfect combination of immaculate championship golf with well designed luxury villas and townhouses set amongst nature reserves and on the doorstep of the beach. The golden beaches of El Portil and Nuevo Portil are endless and simply stunning with wonderful views and if you enjoy a bit of exercise, a dedicated cycle paths runs parallel to the Ocean.
The resort is situated on a beautiful stretch of coastline covered with Mediterranean pine forests that go all the way down to the endless golden beach backed by sand dunes. To add to its picturesque setting it is nestled behind a sandbank peninsular that creates a natural harbour and inlet for fishing boats and is a fantastic place for water sports.
The Costa de la Luz (the Coast of Light) is situated in the Gulf of Cadiz in the south west corner of Spain bordering the Portuguese Algarve. The least known of the Spanish coasts', the area has managed to sustain its natural beauty and traditional culture.
The area is refreshingly Spanish and benefits from beautifully traditional Spanish pueblos and port towns that are steeped in history. Set against the backdrop of the Atlantic Ocean and amongst scenery of rolling hills covered with fields of oranges, strawberries, olive groves, Mediterranean pine trees and stunning beaches; a place where Spain is still Spanish.
Often dubbed the "Spanish Algarve", the Costa de la Luz attracts large numbers of foreign tourists in the summer months and is also very popular with the Spanish. The coastline is characterised by sandbars and marshy inlets making it an ideal area for sailing, boating and other water sports. Amongst the modern developments are the remnants of the old fishing communities and inland, some charming market towns.
